Amanda Hades: The First Broadcast

COMIC BOOK BIN (through Christopher Moshier): The story revolves around revolutionaries basically returning the power (information) to the people. Do you believe this is an issue in the media?  Are you basing the story to make art imitate life or is it just a great back drop to tell your story?

KYLE DEVRIEND: Honestly, I think the media gives people what they want to see.  If people stopped watching 3-hour car chases on the Hollywood freeway they would stop putting it out there. So we the media is a product of our wanting.  The key is to be informed viewers. Know how the media works, and be critical. As far as a great conspiracy of the media hitting us “nonsense” stories to distract us, I don’t know if I believe that, BUT, you never know.

SEAN ROURKE: Uh...a little of both I think.  The mass media of today isn't perfect, but our story is more about what it COULD become.  We basically thought about a world that would be inherited by children born today.  The youth of our future are referred to by marketing firms as "Generation Y2K," the children who were born in and around the year 2000.  Our story revolves around a group of kids, (well mid-twenties anyway,) who recognize the fact that the news has become strictly entertainment for the use of selling products and distracting people from what's really going on in the world.

As to whether or not we're drawing comparisons to the state of today's media...well, it depends on what channel you watch.  Basically, if there's a moral...it's to follow the news like a journalist: don't get all your information from one source.
