It’s all about the race for 1970s professional drag racer Johnny Bullet. When he isn’t racing or performing movie stunts, he’s street racing across America. Dodging villains and chasing women, few can catch up to him. Always riding, Johnny can hardly stay put. He’s running from himself and others.


A brash but clever professional drag racer gets embroiled in local street racing and small town politics after evading the suspicious murder of his best friend.



The first Johnny Bullet story-arc is an eight-issue series. Each issue (or chapter) is 22-pages.

Johnny Bullet’s world is devastated after the revelation of who killed Doug Hawthorn.

Every Johnny Bullet chapter is available for at least a few months as a webcomic before being collected as a digital comic for sale here or at Toon Doctor which is creator Hervé St-Louis’s animation studio.

The stories will be collected later as printed volumes once they are coloured with water-colours.



The strip is a must for fans of muscle cars, auto racing, and old school adventure. The series is for an all-age audience.

26-year-old and five feet ten daredevil Johnny Bullet is obsessed with riding muscle cars. Except when it’s racing-related, Johnny seems to run away from responsibilities such a finances and relationships. Measuring 5'10 ft, he prefers smashing into things and street racing without thinking about the consequences of his actions.

America’s obsession with muscle cars was changing in the 1970s. The post 1973 Oil Crisis cost of gas, increased insurance premiums, under-performing cars, and bad press transformed street and drag racing from mainstream culture into fringe and expensive lifestyles. Johnny navigates through this changing world in a storyline set between Mt. Rushmore, South Dakota, Cross Roads, Tennessee, and Pomona, California.



Hervé St-Louis, PhD, is associate professor of emerging media at the University of Québec in Chicoutimi. His research focuses on human-computer interaction.

The Characters

26-year-old daredevil Johnny Bullet is obsessed with racing muscle cars.

Sergei Moreau is Johnny’s manager. He likes money and keeps the racing team afloat.

Donnie Bayard works with Johnny and his team on a research project on racing drivers.

The late Doug Hawthorne was Johnny’s mechanic and oldest friend.

Smart but of humble means, Maggy Leduc lives in Cross Roads, Tennessee. Johnny has a crush on her.

Mr. Bacon Mr. Bacon is a local business man who owns most of businesses in Cross Roads. He hates Johnny Bullet.

Detective Barbary investigates the murder of Doug Hawthorne.

Country singer Virgil Alexander is determined to prove that Johnny Bullet murdered Doug Hawthorne.

Ex-heavyweight boxing champion Altheo Givens investigates the death of his old friend Doug Hawthorne.

Mechanic Cooper Edgewater is Maggy, Colt, and Brook Leduc’s cousin and Jackson Leduc’s nephew.

Maggy and Brook Leduc’s brother, Colt Leduc is a broke street racer.

Maggy and Colt Leduc’s brother, Brook Leduc is a womanizer and a street racer.

Whether using her remarkable cooking skills or strong will, Maude Bacon, can influence any man or woman.

Sheriff Fine is the law in Cross Roads, and Mr. Bacon’s lieutenant.

Jackson Leduc, the patriarch of the Leduc clan, is Maggy, Colt, Brook Leduc, and Cooper Edgewater’s uncle. He is a moonshiner.
