Zorro #2
NBM/Papercutz
Writer: Don McGregor
Artist: Sidney Lima
In the second issue of the new series, Zorro, and Miss Eulalia Bandini continues to try escaping the Spanish officers while keeping in harms way of Ripklaw, the fur trader. Having met a couple of cartographers, last issue, Zorro and his friends’ fortune is severely lacking. Worse, Ripklaw is murdering Yellow Stone’s wolves. Could humans be his next target? Will Zorro and his friend make it alive?
McGregor’s story is predictable and I bet next issue, the wolves’ pack leader gets to kill Ripklaw. Fortunately, McGregor shows that a lady as gorgeous as Eulalia Bandini, affects Zorro. Frankly it’s about time too! Zorro continues to be a great read for kids of all ages. With a fast-paced plot like this one with lots of intriguing characters with continuity, this comic book is a good start for younger readers.
Lima continues to deliver great line with his artwork. Notice how Amelie Besson looks younger in this issue, is this a set up to a potential love triangle involving Zorro and Eulalia. Lima’s action scenes and character expressions are as lively as ever, however, he continues to have problems with his storytelling. Lima continuously makes his story flow from right to left, instead of left to right. It seems like this story is drawn for the Asian market.
