DREAMWAVE PRODUCTIONS
COVER: Pat Lee
WRITER: Brad Mick
PENCILER: Pat Lee

A new ruler seeks to unify Cybertron and transform the planet into a utopia. Both Optimus and Megatron must pledge allegiance to his order, or risk execution as war criminals! Now Optimus and the Autobots are enemies of the planet they defended! Can an answer be found or is Optimus doomed!!!

After the first mini, which I thought was a little lethargic, I wasn't quite sure what to expect. I was interested by the premise though, so I thought I'd give it a try. And I'm very glad I did. I really enjoyed the overall story. It felt more absorbing than the previous one. Brad Mick showed a really good understanding of the characters. His love for Transformers really showed itself on the page. It was also nice to see a Cybertron story (especially after Furman wet our appetites with War Within). The main problem with this mini was that it seemed condensed and could have been longer. A lot of time speech boxes were nearly as big as the panels themselves. It is good to have an issue where you feel like you got a lot out of it, but at times, you could see how someone could get confused. There were so many characters used and in any issue, you could have loads of different narratives and sometimes it wasn't too clear who was giving them. The ending was interesting, but frustrating, as you really want more.

I have to say straight off the bat that I really liked Lee's work here. In the first mini, I found his characters to be too stiff and off proportioned. This time though everything seemed right. The colouring effects were on point too. Everything from reflective light on the metal, lighting of rooms, it was great. The one thing that got in the way of the art was the word boxes. Sometimes they took up so much space, it detracted from the art. For the most part the covers were nice. 5a & 6a were probably the worst of the bunch and I thought 1a & 2a were both up there as the best of the mini.
