Jonathan Mostow ( Breakdown, U-571, Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines) will direct, based on the screenplay adaptation by Michael Ferris and John Brancato (Terminator 3, The Game). The film will be produced by Mandeville Films' David Hoberman and Todd Lieberman, Brownstone Productions' Max Handelman and Elizabeth Banks, and Top Shelf Productions.
"'The Surrogates' is a mind-bending and brilliantly provocative piece of fiction," says Mostow. "I am thrilled to be involved in bringing it to the big screen."
In addition, Venditti is midway through scripting the second installment in the graphic novel series, titled "The Surrogates: Flesh and Bone," with Weldele returning as artist. The new graphic novel is slated for a 2009 release, according to Staros.
