Terminal Press's new title makes its way out west on a slow killing spree into California
Terminal Press will debut Killing Tree Quarterly at the 2008 New York Comic Con on April 18. The 50-page comic will be the sixth in Terminal Press's line of Limited Edition printings available only through terminalpress.com and their convention appearances.
Keith McCleary's "Killing Tree Quarterly" is a violent and intelligent tale woven through the fabric of this country's westward expansion on the American frontier. The title follows five strange and mismatched characters: Dead Oak, a Native American tracker, Fang La, a Chinese San Franciscan, Sloe-Eyed Mary, a whore with a shotgun, Wesley Wiles, a wealthy African American teenager and Cody McCabe, Wiles' drunken California guide. Cattle rustling, town massacres, and a good old-fashioned train wreck bind these campfire stories and tall tales together, giving this one-shot a unique personality of its own.
"Killing Tree Quarterly," the first collaboration between McCleary & Terminal Press, will be followed by another high-profile project already in production. "This book is intelligent, original and very well done. It's exactly the type of project we like to get behind as an independent publisher," says Terminal Press's Brian Ferrara. "It is also unlike anything we've published so far, which is exciting for us."
