Rated “T” for “Teen”
Princess Syalis, the princess of the human kingdom, “Goodereste,” has been kidnapped by the Demon King, Now, she is imprisoned in his “Demon Castle.” While the human kingdom goes into panic over its missing princess, the princess herself is… bored... and just wants to get a good night's rest.
Sleepy Princess in the Demon Castle, Vol. 3 (Chapters 27 to 39) opens as winter arrives at the Demon Castle. Syalis decides to create a DIY magical device, known as a “Ko-tatsu,” to keep herself warm. As usual, people and infrastructure are hurt when Syalis goes the do-it-yourself route. The teen girl demon, Harpy, wants to be Syalis' friend, but the princess' antics may turn Harpy into a late friend.
With Christmas just around the corner, the demons of the castle wonder what gift they should give the princess. They plan to give her a few gifts that will fit into a small Christmas stocking, but Syalis plans on fashioning a sock big enough to hold the gift she really wants!
THE LOWDOWN: The Sleepy Princess in the Demon Castle manga is an episodic, comic fantasy. It is super-cute and quite funny, and it has “Teddy Demons,” which are enough to make me a fan.
Sleepy Princess in the Demon Castle Graphic Novel Volume 3 includes the usual hijinks. For some reason, I was surprised to see Christmas become a topic for a few of the chapters. It is a nice change of pace for this series, so let's keep reading.
I READS YOU RECOMMENDS: Readers looking for odd manga comedy will want to try the Shonen Sunday title, Sleepy Princess in the Demon Castle.
