Ubisoft
announced today that it is collaborating once again with Olympic Gold
Medalist snowboarder Shaun White to create a Wii exclusive sequel to
Shaun
White Snowboarding.
Shaun
White Snowboarding: World Stage will
take players to the slopes with Shaun White and his crew, as in the
previous game, but this time the stakes have risen, as you'll take on
the world's top competition, from Canada, to France and Japan and
back. You'll even be able to master a half-pipe in the middle of New
York's Times Square.

Adding some flare to Times Square.

“Ubisoft
has been a great partner, and I'm excited for World
Stage,”
said Shaun White. “It's cool to give people insight on what my life
is like on the competition circuit.”
As it stands, Shaun
White Snowboarding has
sold over 3 million copies across the multiple platforms it released
for last November, establishing a new sports brand for Ubisoft. It is
also likely that the game's success is one of the main reasons that
the first game Ubisoft's new Vancouver studio is developing is
Academy
of Champions
(another original sports property). Antoine
Guignard, the producer for Shaun
White Snowboarding: World Stage,
explained the game's success in his own words. “Working with Shaun
on the first title was an excellent experience,” he said. “The
great public reception of Shaun
White Snowboarding
and the wonderful collaboration with Shaun made it a slam dunk for us
to reunite to create a fun, new adventure for fans.”
Like
the Wii version of the original game, Shaun
White Snowboarding: World Stage will
be fully compatible with the Wii
Balance Board.
People who have played that version of Shaun
White Snowboarding will
also probably recognize the same artistic style being used in World
Stage.
Finally, there's no news, just yet, as to whether multiple Wii
Balance Boards will be usable this time around or not, but we expect
more details to be announced during E3, where Ubisoft will be
showcasing the game during its own conference at the show on June
1st.
E3 attendees will also get the chance to try their hands, and feet,
at the game for themselves at Ubisoft's booth on the show floor.

George of the slopes. Watch out for that bus.
