Nintendo
and EB Games announced today that they will be hosting national
Super
Smash Bros. Brawl
tournaments at
select EB Games and GameStop stores in the U.S. and Canada. In
Canada, beginning March 9
th
(also the launch date
for
Super Smash Bros. Brawl
),
players will be able to register for the tournament at select EB
Games stores. Qualifying rounds will begin on April 4
th
,
and the tournament will run
until Saturday, May 3
rd
,
when the winner will be crowned in Toronto. Regional winners from
across Canada will even be flown to Toronto, courtesy of Nintendo of
Canada. There are all kinds of prizes up for grabs, including a Grand
Prize trip for two to the Nintendo World Store in New York City, $500

The
American tournament is being run a little differently. Qualifiers for
the American tournament begin the day before the game's March 9
th
launch date
(in
other words, this Saturday)
at a number of EB Games and GameStop stores across the U.S. In fact,
there will be so many stores hosting the tournament that the entire
list takes up 45 pages! So, to find out if your local EB Games or
GameStop store is hosting the tournament, go to www.ebgames.com/smash
or www.gamestop.com/smash
(not that it matters) and click on “First Round Store Locations”.
Prizing for the American tournament includes trophies, trips and a
Grand Prize of an LCD TV, the entire First Party Wii software
library, a Wii and some accessories, a trophy and $5,000 cash. All
the details, including full tournament rules and regulations are also
