Maggie Thompson of Comics Buyer’s Guide recently announced that comics legend Martin Nodell passed away this past weekend at the age of 91.
Marty was the creator of the Green Lantern character when he was an illustrator at All-American Comics, which would later be absorbed by DC Comics.
Comics writer and historian Mark Evanier writes on his site that “Nodell was very proud of his creation and its longevity.”
Mr. Nodell was born on
November 15th, 1915. He entered the world of advertising after his comics work, and was a key member of the team that produced the Pillsbury Doughboy. Later in life, he entered the comics convention circuit, delighting fans with his warmth and stories of the Golden Age of American comics.
CBB extends its condolences to the family and friends of Mr. Nodell.
