Dabel brothers announce
limited edition anita blake #1 – entirely in pencil!
special release of anita blake:
vampire hunter comic book celebrates the fantastic art of Brett Booth;
available exclusively at WizardWorld Chicago ‘06
The Dabel
Brothers are on the verge of releasing one of their biggest books of the year
as they prepare for the launch of the comic book adaptation of Laurell K.
Hamilton’s ANITA BLAKE: VAMPIRE HUNTER in GUILTY PLEASURES. Pre-orders have
been strong, and excitement from fans and retailers has been overwhelming.
People simply cannot wait to get their hands on this book when it ships in
mid-August.
But those who make
it to WizardWorld Chicago ‘06 on August 4th-6th will be
glad they attended – after all, they’ll have the chance to be among the readers
who were able to pick up a special edition of the first issue, which will
feature the entire story done entirely in pencil, celebrating the fantastic art
of fan-favorite illustrator Brett Booth.
“We really wanted
to offer something unique to our fans who have waited so long and so patiently
for this title,” explained Ernst Dabel, President of DB Pro. “And this book is
absolutely gorgeous. We often forget when we publish our comics that while we
have had the opportunity to see the artwork at every stage – pencils, inks,
colors, and letters – our readers only get to see the completed product. But
there’s something to be said for seeing the original pencils, especially when
they’re drawn by someone as talented and as much eye for detail as Brett
Booth.”
Brett Booth fans
and Anita fans alike can enjoy this special pencils-only edition simply by
stopping by the Dabel Brothers booth (#645, towards the back corner of the
publishers section) at WizardWorld Chicago and purchasing a copy. The Dabel
Brothers will also be selling their official limited edition Anita Blake
T-shirts. But since both items are limited in quantity, the Brothers anticipate
that they may sell out before the convention is over!
The Dabel
Brothers will also be holding a costume contest on Saturday, August 5th,
open to anyone who attends the convention. All participants need to do is
arrive at the convention dressed up as any character from a Dabel Brothers book
– from an old favorite like THE HEDGE KNIGHT, LEGACY or XIII, or one of DB
Pro’s latest books, like MAGICIAN, MARSHAL, RED PROPHET, or ANITA BLAKE.
Contestants should register at the Dabel Brothers booth sometime between 10:00
p.m. and 2:00 p.m.. The winners will receive a full year’s subscription to all
of DB Pro’s comic books and graphic novels!
“We’re very
excited about WizardWorld Chicago, and we think this is going to be a year many
of our fans will remember,” said Les Dabel, Vice President of DB Pro. “We love
meeting people and getting feedback on what we’re doing, so please feel free to
stop by our booth – I’d love to shake your hand and show you what we’ve been
doing!”
