Alias Comics recently announced new policies designed to lessen, if not completely eliminate, late shipping titles.
New policies, enacted in February 2006, require all creators to have their books completed and delivered to Alias Comics in full before the publisher will solicit them to readers, which will result in an all but certain guarantee that books will always furthermore ship according to their release date upon solicitation.
The first books shipping on this new schedule will be released on March 22, and include Yenny #3, Victoria’s Secret Service #1 , HyperActives #1, Atomik Mike #1, SixGun Samurai #4, Lullaby: Once Upon a Time, and The Legend of Isis #8. Following on March 29 with Yenny #4, Twin Blades #1, Tempest, and Hammer Kid #0.
On this new schedule, the publisher acknowledges that readers will experience a short delay in releases throughout the summer while books are adjusted to fit the new schedule.
Alias goes on to note that several upcoming releases will be spaced out until they can be on the same schedule. Among these titles are Six Gun #6, Lethal Instinct #6, Lullaby #4, 10th Muse #11, Isis #10, and Victoria’s Secret Service #2 – all of which are now re-solicited in the April issue of Previews catalog, expecting a June 2006 release.
"The decision was made in February, but there are a few titles still grandfathered in," said a spokesperson at Alias. "We will monitor those titles very closely— being sure we have distinct proof they are on schedule at the studio—until we can get them under the same policy as the rest of our books."
All Alias titles are expected to be brought under the new release schedule before the September releases. Said the spokesperson: "This way there will be no need for guessing, and we will be able to assure our audience that our books will be available on time."
