Marvel Comics returns to classic comic book branding by releasing Giant-size Ms. Marvel #1. Back from action from recent events in Marvel's House of M, Carol Danvers, the Kree-powered super heroine is on her way to become the greatest super hero in the Marvel Universe - according to Marvel Comics. Ms. Marvel was created in the 1967 as a supporting character in Captain Marvel's series. She later gained powers similar to his and joined the Avengers. Having gone through many changes and a long coma, Ms Marvel is back with her original powers and a bigger size of breasts.

In her first series, published in 1977, she was already a feminist, much like DC Comics' Power Girl of which she is a direct cipher. Now, she has taken on one of the most known features of her cipher across the other comic book dimension, a super size pair of breasts. Although it is normal in a universe with several heroines that a few of them would sport large breasts, when it happens to a character who is already the cipher of another one, this is not coincidence. Following the popular released of a Power Girl mini-series within the pages of the Anthology series JSA Classified, Perhaps Marvel is attempting to tap in the same market.

Giving a female character a series is always a good thing, but it does not appear, at first glance that this series is marketed to the types of readers who enjoy Supergirl or Wonder Woman. This one is aimed at lads, and reviving the name giant-size, which has no legacy with the characters is a play of word meant to generate attention and a pun on the breast size of a character. One would think that after almost 40 years in print, Carol Danvers would have more to offer comic book collectors than a pair of breasts. Let's hope there is more than meets the eyes, in Ms Marvel #1.
