A new era for The Transformers begins now!

Everyone’s favorite Robots in Disguise have been away from comics for too long. But IDW Publishing is prepared to end that absence in a big way come this October.

Times have changed since the Transformers last roamed the planet, and they will find the world to be a very different place in The Transformers #0, “Prelude to Infiltration,” the specially priced premiere issue debuting in October. This debut issue features Transformers fan-favorite Autobots and Decepticons in an all-new storyline that will appeal to long-time fans and be a perfect for new fans to jump onboard, too.

Serving as a prelude to IDW’s on-going monthly Transformers series, this 24-page full color issue specially priced at only $0.99 sets the scene for things to come in the first six-part storyline, “Infiltration.” The 16-page introductory story features a young runaway named Verity Carlo who “acquires” a mini-computer that just might hold bigger secrets than she’s prepared to handle. And when she’s made aware of a larger conspiracy that involves gigantic alien robots, well, the skeptic in her refuses to believe what she’s been told. Until she has no choice but to believe if she wants to survive at all…

“It’s a daunting, and even more exciting, prospect, taking on one of the premiere properties in all of comics,” said IDW’s Editor-in-Chief Chris Ryall. “But what we have planned will surely please old fans and new. And all it takes to see if we deliver on that promise is a buck. October’s going to be a pretty exciting time for Transformer fans. And I expect to see all of you at Bot-Con, too!”

The Transformers #0 also includes 8 pages of behind-the-scenes bonus material featuring Q&As with the talented creative team behind the return of the Transformers, fan-favorite Transformers scribe Simon Furman and artist E.J. Su. The introductory issue will also feature variant covers by E.J. Su, Milx, James Raiz, and Ed McGuinness.

As a special bonus for the faithful Transformers fans, IDW will debut The Transformers #0 at the Bot-Con convention in Frisco, Texas, offering long-time fans the first look at this robot revival. This special Bot-Con edition will feature a cover designed by Hasbro’s own Aaron Archer.

IDW’s plans for the Transformers are vast, and more details of other miniseries, one-shots and special events will be announced as we get closer to 2006, the Year of the Transformers.

The Transformers #0 debuts in October 2005 at the special introductory price of $0.99. The Transformers #1 will launch in January 2006 with a cover price of $2.99.
