Mystique # 6
By Kevin Scott
September 28, 2003 - 11:44
To be a good spy you need to be able to move in silence. You'll need to be able to do the unthinkable to survive. You'll need to be able to blend in to your surroundings. So if your
Mystique, your perfect for the job………maybe too perfect.
She's a ruthless killer, has committed countless atrocities, but now she is working for
Charles Xavier!?! Maybe not by choice, but what does she want, redemption or a means for escape!?!
In this issue Vaughan seems to want to show us an even deeper side of
Mystique character. He wants to call everything into question and show nothing is a given. The only problem is, it seems a contradiction on the past we know her to have. There needed to be more of a build up to the epiphany. We don't end on a cliffhanger this time around, but we are given a glimpse of a potential threat to
Xavier and maybe even
Mystique!!!
I have to say, I thought the cover was a little weak, but
Lucas opens up with a great spread shot, that really gets things started. Once again his work is solid and shows a nice finesse for emotion. This is really apparent in the interaction between
Mystique &
Evangelina. You could see the effects of the conversation on each character.
Lucas also throws in a really nice explosion panel.
