Supergirl's involvement in the Legion of Superheroes of the 31st century deepens while Brainiac 5's plan to bring Dream Girl back to life goes into high gear. Meanwhile, the rest of the Legion must slug it out with a band of renegade robots inhabiting the underworld of Metropolis. Although the team consists of teenagers, there is still something very gloomy about this comic with the members plotting against each other and Brainy ranting like Dr. Frankenstein. Supergirl brings a much-needed sense of youthfulness, optimism and comedy to this title. However, at times it is clear she has been artificially injected into the plot, as if the creators were just trying to find a way to make space for her in a wider story. The art reflects the story: the best scenes are the tense, angry, teeth-gritting confrontations while the mass action sequences look rather crowded and stiff.
