Princess Syalis is the princess of the human kingdom, “Goodereste.”  She has been kidnapped by Twilight, who is the current Demon King, and she is now imprisoned in his “Demon Castle.”   While the human kingdom goes into panic over its missing princess, the princess herself is… bored... and just wants to get a good night's rest.

Sleepy Princess in the Demon Castle, Vol. 4 (Chapters 40 to 52) opens as winter still lingers.  It is “Valentine's Day,” and Syalis expects to get candy, but it seems as if she is supposed to be the one giving chocolates.  Her latest scheme to get her way and to get some chocolates will have Demon Castle in an uproar.

Next, Twilight's older brother, Hades, is bitter because he did not inherit the crown of the Demon King.  In a bid to prove that he is better than Twilight, Hades kidnaps his brother's human prisoner, Syalis.  But kidnapping Syalis and making her your prisoner are two very different things.

THE LOWDOWN:  The Sleepy Princess in the Demon Castle is manga light reading.  It is an episodic, comic fantasy that is is super-cute and quite funny.  And I always have to mention the “Teddy Demons,” which are enough to make me a fan.

Sleepy Princess in the Demon Castle Graphic Novel Volume 4 includes the usual hijinks, but this volume expands the narrative's background.  We discover some of the “villain” the Demon King's family dynamics.  I would say that this makes Vol. 4 a must-have volume in this series.  And there is a cute story about what those oh-so-cute Teddy Demons do when they are in distress.
