“Manic” strictly speaking, is rather the mood, style, point of view, but very different in tone and characterization. His own bag of tricks, Michael Lindow and Image Comics USA put out “MANIC” a distinctive type of comic. A knapsack of ideas and a vision that’s untouchable, leads this gut driven artist to Japan. What was in his bag?
Having been adopted by an American family from Korea, Michael Lindow grew up in the suburbs of a small town in Minnesota, were he formed his own passion for comics. “Manic” depicts the realities of life; a world through an artist who has been put to the test through the dark side of life. Coupled by a nurturing family, Michael Lindows sketches captures the intensities of both love and evil through “Manic”, a cyberpunk psychedelic realistic fantasy storyboard tale.
Characteristics, and a visual style that are far from typical and only touching on the elements of Comics and Manga, and a visual sequence that is seemingly logical, but yet fantasy; undeniably makes “Manic” a work of art rather than a comic. At the same time keeping it clean and at the same time keeping with the principles of a smooth transition in the story board. There are no shortcuts with “Manic”.
“Manic” by Michael Lindow represents more than pages of reading, strokes signifying characters, angles of direction and shades of depth but rather the psyche of an artist.
