It is Taisho era Japan (1912 to 1926). Tanjiro Kamado, a kindhearted boy, sells coal in order to support his mother and four siblings. After one particularly taxing trip to sell coal, Tanjiro returns to his home in the forest and finds his family slaughtered. He discovers that a younger sibling, his sister Nezuko, has herself been transformed into a demon by the unknown demon that killed his family. He becomes a Demon Slayer to find and destroy that demon.
As Demon Slayer: Kimetsu No Yaiba, Vol. 6 (Chapters 44 to 52; entitled “The Demon Slayer Corps Gathers”) opens, the Hashira, the leadership of the Demon Slayer Corps, gathers. They have captured Tanjiro and Nezuko, and seek to pass judgment on them, an inevitable path to at least Nezuko's death. However, “the man in the mansion,” Kagaya Ubuyashiki, the head of the Hashira, has another idea – faith in those who prove themselves.
Plus, it is a time of healing with Shinobu Kocho. Also, Muzan Kibutsuji, the ultimate demon, has a confrontational meeting with some of his “Twelve Kizuki.”
[This volume includes four-panel comics.]
THE LOWDOWN: The Demon Slayer: Kimetsu No Yaiba manga was one of 2018's best new graphic novel series. Now, it is one of 2019's best graphic novel series..
Demon Slayer: Kimetsu No Yaiba Graphic Novel 6 offers several riveting subplots or sequences. Tanjiro's judgment at the hands of the Hashira is a shocker that will have readers wanting to defend our hero. The healing/training sequence is full of wonderful character moments, including those that depict an underdog doing his thing to succeed. The Kibutsuji sequence is gory and crazy, and, of course, leads into Tanjiro's next struggle. Let it lead you to this wonderful series.
I READS YOU RECOMMENDS: Fans of demon-fighting heroes will want to read the Shonen Jump title, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu No Yaiba.
