Clark Kent goes to interview Lex Luthor in a maximum-security prison and Lex is so obsessed with his hatred for Superman that he fails to recognize that Clark is Superman-- even when Clark is forced to rescue Lex several times during a chaotic prison riot. This issue almost reads like a comedy as Luthor's hatred for Superman just pours out of him non-stop. This version of Luthor may not be as subtle as the Machiavellian plotter who has appeared in the mainstream DC but he is more enjoyable with his outright contempt for the Man of Steel and his constant efforts to pump up his ego. The art furthers this comedic look, making Kent look all crumbled and clumsy while a smaller, less-muscular Luthor preens like a prima donna, oblivious to the dangers around him. It is only at the end that we get a hint of the danger involved in Luthor's greater plot. Obviously, the story is not intended to be taken completely seriously. (Luthor is given access to high technology in his prison cell). Odd as it sounds, but this title may be the last repository of purely-fun stories in DC comics.
