What I like about Scooby-Doo Team-Up is you don’t have to be steeped in the latest ret-con of a character to enjoy it. In the latest issue, classic Supergirl shares the stage with the meddling kids of Mystery Inc. This is the Linda Lee Danvers teen Supergirl from the Silver Age, seemingly haunted by the ghosts of the citizens of Krypton’s Argo City, whom Kara was forced to leave behind.

But since Mystery Inc, has Scooby, it seems only fair that Supergirl be joined by her pet cat Streaky, also endowed with super-powers, and it becomes as much a team up of Scooby and Streaky as it is for the humans of the group. However, in classic team-up style, the dog and cat must fight first, then unite against a common foe.

I’ve never really considered myself a Scooby fan, but recently while flipping through channels I stumbled across one of the old Saturday morning episodes. I didn’t just pause in my surfing, I stopped and enjoyed the episode. I guess it’s safe to say Sholly Fisch has accurately tapped the vein that made Scooby Doo a hit back in ’69.

I find this series to be a fun read, and it’s not often it disappoints. Of course, my expectations are not terribly high. I consider it the comic book equivalent of watching some of the classic cartoons of my youth, and I more than okay with that.
