Review: The Lost Boys #6

The Santa Clara Vampire Hunters take on the final group of vampires plaguing their hometown and plan to train the next generation of vampire hunters. The question is: does that translate to another series...and more importantly...do we care?

The Lost Boys was a quite uneven series. It had some definite highs (and lows), but overall was too uneven for me to want to see more from a Vertigo series about this franchise. That is, at least, for now. Writer Tim Seeley (Hack/Slash) did a pretty decent job of attempting to add some further dimension to the characters, most of whom exist for comic relief, which sadly was something that this series didn't have enough of. He did introduce at least one interesting character, who at first seemed pretty silly, but ended up being intriguing...and promptly killed him off.
Scott Godlweski's art on the series elevated what Seeley was attempting to accomplish in each issue. He brought a unique look to characters like the aforementioned Believer and the Aztec influenced Vampire Mothers. I wouldn't be excited to read another The Lost Boys series, but would pick it up if Godlewski was the artist still.
Not every series from every creator who has had success in the past will be great. The Lost Boys was not great. That doesn't mean that Seeley has particularly lost his touch or anything. Even the greats struggle with material sometimes.
