What interests me about the current Nightwing story arc is the two stars of the narrative. On one hand, you have Ric Grayson, the former Nightwing who no longer has an interest in being a masked super-hero. He has insight into a world he wants no part of.

On the other hand, there is Alphonse Sapienza, a Bludhaven detective currently masquerading as Nightwing. He’s completely new to the super-hero game, bringing with him a cop’s mentality of evidence, and due process. He very much wants to be a super-hero, but he may lack the proper mindset.

MEANWHILE… a new player has entered the arena, as the Scarecrow has set his sights on Bludhaven. Has he made the Robin/Nightwing/Dick Grayson connection? Well, maybe, in a way, but as far as firmly connecting those dots, not yet. But there is a connection of sort there, which no doubt will continue to bring the former super-hero and the current super-villain together again.

As with last issue, we have two artists on deck – Garry Brown and Will Conrad. Their work compliments one another more easily than last issue’s Travis Moore/Patch Zircher pairing, I think. I didn’t notice the transition as much as I did last issue. Perhaps it’s time for Nightwing to go back to a monthly, allowing for a more consistent art team (either individual artist or penciler/inker combo) to take the reins. Just a thought.
