The League and the Rangers are united in their battle against Brainiac and his latest ally, Zordon. But first they have to reach the battlefield is in the Ranger’s universe. By merging their resources, they are able to create a gateway to the Ranger-verse. But Brainiac hasn’t wasted any time getting back to his old tricks.

It’s now up to the League and the Rangers to A) rescue the town of angel Grove; B) retrieve the Rangers uniforms and the source of their powers; and C.) defend their Earth from eventual destruction at the hands of Brainiac. You know, just a typical day in the life of a super-hero.

Tom Taylor tries to inject a bit of emotion into the story, as one of the Rangers witnesses his home being stolen by Brainiac, his parents just on the other side of the force field that separates them. Convenient. But to his credit, he includes artifacts from the JLA trophy room as weapons, so it’s fun to revisit some of the JLA’s history.

The artwork is fun, if a bit dark. I appreciate how Stephen Byrne renders his characters in classic poses, reinforcing the iconic nature of these legendary heroes. Thankfully, it does not descend into caricature, an easy pitfall for the best of artists.
