In fact two years later, I would force ComicBookBin to take a look seriously at Web comics. My one rule which was always broken by staff writers was to never compare Web comics to print comics. They were their own thing. But staff writers had problems coming to terms with that. It might have been too much to ask, or a paradigm shift they just were not prepared for. But I was. I still maintain this line today. If I am to write about Web comics, I will discuss them with their own vernacular, their own rules and will not try to compare them with print comics. That’s where I believe the comic book industry keeps stumbling. They desperately want to make Web and digital comics just electronic versions of printed comics. They don’t get it. The whole push to tablets and apps and phones is ridiculous because the comics are not treated as e-comics, they are treated as printed comics that you can read on a screen. I think Jeff got it. As a motion graphic artist he probably understood what digital meant and the opportunity. At least he gave us two very good articles to build upon our clear coverage of Web comics.
Who's Who @ComicBookBin is a feature celebrating the 10th anniversary of ComicBookBin where publisher Hervé St-Louis features writers past and present that have contributed to ComicBookBin over the years.
