This issue is a set up to the upcoming Viltrumite war that’s coming in a few issue that should change the world of Invincible once again. It should be a fun watch to see how Mark reacts to the return of his father on Earth and if he will succumb to the anti-Viltrumites weapons. This issue however was a fun read with enough break between the action to put jokes about Allen and his girlfriend and Mark’s father sleeping on the couch. It may sound silly, but touches like that do humanize stories and allow readers to discover another facet to the characters.
This is the second issue of Walker’s return to Invincible. May I ask where he’s been? I really like his work on this series as it gives a solid form to all the characters. He seems to be able to draw action, quiet scenes and gore as well as the regular artist of the series. The only difference here is that he’s also part creator of Invincible and its world. A very good issue over all.
