Harley’s crazy world gets crazier when she is sucked into a magical world populated by familiar faces (kind of like Wizard of Oz). Various members of the bat-cast become analogs in a mystical world of deposed queens, knights of Gotham, and of course, a harlequin.

It appears to be a diversion from the current Trials of Harley storyline, in which Harley is being tested for a coveted position as an agent of chaos and order. He proctor through the process is a Tamaranian woman, so one might expect more future tech, rather than mystical magic. So this may/may not be a filler story.

Otto Schmidt handles the art, and I couldn’t be happier. I love his work, especially on a title that calls for a certain amount of whimsy, such as Harley Quinn. It’s quite a departure from the usual heroes in tights style of rendering, but he makes it work.

But be forewarned – it’s a multi-part story, so next issue will be more of the same, with a few secrets revealed and surprises thrown in, I am sure.
