Guy Gardner and John Stewart are back in Earth, trying to be humans again. But it’s difficult. Guy can’t find a job because he’s too risky and John’s work expectations are too high for his employers. What’s a Green Lantern to do? Well, perhaps being assigned to the latest mystery crisis of the Green Lantern Corps by Salak is one way to kill time!

This series follows up from the previous one, so the Green Lantern continuity is mostly intact. Yet, as a new series, it was easy for a new reader like me to pick up and just go with it. I like the interplay between the two old pros in this issue. Guy Gardner’s quest for a normal job was more believable than the arrogance John Stewart displayed at what he called lax building codes. One would think a senior architect like him would be over such issues by now. This book is probably not the main one Green Lantern fans or even casual readers will pick up. However, if you are new to Green Lantern, having discovered him over the movie earlier this year or are returning to comics after a long break, this series so far delivers, although it sends in a cliffhanger.

One promise I will make, after thoroughly enjoying the writing of Peter Tomasi on Black Adam, is that e understands suspense and s not afraid of gore. There is quite a lot of gore already. Actually that had me wondering how Guy and John would fight an opponent that can negate Green Lantern powers.

I don’t know Fernando Pasarin, but can say that his work is brilliant so far. He has that same crisp quality that Doug Mahnke and Patrick Gleason have brought to Green Lantern in the past. His figures are well-formed and even his aliens look believable. Being able to draw good aliens is one great skill for a series like Green Lantern. I wasn’t a regular Green Lantern Corps reader in the past, but I see no reason for passing such an excellently put series. This one has my full recommendations.
