The Sinestro Corps., an evil counterpart of the Green Lantern Corps., make its move, targetting the Guardians of the Universe in their very own headquarters on the planet Oa. What follows is a massive battle with casualties on both sides. All the main Green Lanterns, Hal, Guy, Kyle and John, are in action, each getting his own chance to show what makes him such an engaging character. But the true star of this issue is Sinestro, the renegade Green Lantern whose anger, cunning and sense of betrayal, animate this story. Even with its numerous twists, a cast of thousands and some of the biggest names in the DC Comics universe, the story never gets too confusing, thanks to the tight plotting and judicious sharing of panel space. The story even helps elevate Van Sciver's art to new heights. His love for dark, gloomy places and twisted, grotesque figures fit in perfectly with the new Sinestro Corps. Perhaps this is just a great start to what will eventually be a disappointing story arc but on its own merits, it deserves five out of five stars.
