As a kid, I remember comics often had two, sometimes three stories. Not just the giant-size comics with extra pages, but the monthly issues. I believe condensed storytelling makes for a leaner narrative, without a lot of unnecessary padding. I’m not interested in the eventual TBP, just tell me a good story.

So I am very pleased when I discovered two stories in the latest issue of Gotham City Garage. The first features Barda hitting up radio journalist Lois Lane for help. While the two may be on the same side, Lois has little regard for the grease monkeys who occupy the garage. She lays into Barda with a speech every wanna-be SJW should hear. I’ve seen the tweets and re-tweets, and pleas from GoFundMe.com of people needing help covering the cost of their latest tattoo. But what does it all change? NOTHING!

Still, Barda makes a convincing argument – one Lois has a difficult time denying.

In the second story, we learn the origin of Kendra Blackhawk, an adoptee of the original unit who is perhaps on the verge of greatness. Or so her CO believes. She just needs to find the right battle to fight.

It’s great to see the Blackhawks back in action in some form. I’m a big fan, and I believe they are be one of DC’s sleeping giants, until the right creative team comes along. If the A-Team, and the Expendables can be successful, why not the Blackhawks?
