So Harley Quinn leads a raid on Lex Luthor’s Gotham Garden City in a bid to free the citizens from his Ridealongs – electronic devices that keep the sheeple docile and agreeable to whatever insanity he decides to inflict. Along for the ride is her version of the Joker, a one-time patient who isn’t nearly as homicidal as the original.

MEANWHILE…Batman and Barbara Gordon continue their investigation into the death of former police commissioner James Gordon. Of course, Barbara is upset when she views the doctored footage showing her step-sister Kara killing her father. This makes her a wee bit more tolerant of Batman rather extreme efforts at law and order.

I am still uncertain why this series was produced. The first issue said it’s based on the Gotham Garage figures produced by DC Comics, but doesn’t that make this series nothing more than cheap advertising – or not so cheap, as the case may be. I don’t recall anyone ever saying, “What we’d like is a DCU/Mad Max mash-up.” Just because you can do something doesn’t mean you should.

It is my hope this is a particularly limited series. Sure, the Bombshells series worked, I guess, but any of these given series have a limited shelf-life. Were the Gotham Garage figures really selling that well? I can’t imagine why.
