Nowadays, villains who are three steps in front of the hero are the norms. There lies the problem with this issue. Brubaker is concentrated in establishing the mastermind as the person in control of Daredevil’s life that he forgets to show why and how. Sure the villain alludes to past manipulations, but they seem inconceivable and illogical. There are too many plot holes and opportunities for the things to not have gone according to plan for such a complicated plot to have ever worked.
So Brubaker ends up having his villain touting its superior intellect continuously to let the reader that his weak plot works. Well it doesn’t work, and the confrontation between Daredevil and his arch nemesis is weak.
The artists are a mix of Lee Weeks and Alex Maleev. Suitable for Daredevil as every character looks like what we have come to expect. It’s a good thing their work is good because the story is not as entertaining.
