Cyborg has
been injured in battle, but thankfully, there is Starlite Original Business to
pick up the pieces. As Vic and the readers learn, Starlite was once a part of
STAR Labs, until the staff grew weary of the bureaucratic nature of
government-sponsored research and split off on their own. But Vic is smart
enough to not take their explanation at face value.
There could be something more at the root of the organization, or the employees could be innocent dupes in a grander scheme. Either way, Cyborg is determined to find out – but not before piloting one of the giant robots they have on hand. Because, you know… giant robots.
Wolfman and Derenick are a vast improvement over the previous creative teams. In fairness, the artists didn’t have much to work with, but Wolfman is a pro whose career goes back decades. Granted, the industry has changed, but the basic mission remains the same: tell a good story. And Wolfman is far too experienced to do otherwise.
I have renewed hope for Cyborg, as a character, and as title. I wouldn’t be surprised if part of his involvement is an attempt on DC’s part to support the franchise as it move closer to the intended film, scheduled for 2020.
