The best aspect of Cave Carson is easily the art. That isn't necessarily a knock on the story as is it a compliment of the job that Oeming has done. From cover to cover the art will captivate you. It is quite literally a trip with overtones of cosmic psychedelia in the vein of Jack Kirby. One page in particular stands out among the rest. This page has a very creative panel lay out, depicting images inside the eye of Cave Carson. So the pupil has an image, then the iris, and so forth. The coloring only elevates the art further and the use of stippling harkens back to the earliest days of newspaper comics.

The story features all the silver age wack-a-doo that the Cave Carson series has become known for since the Young Animal imprint began. If a cosmic black hole spelunker who is perused by intergalactic bounty hunters and befriends a space pop star that is a mix between Prince and David Bowie sounds like a fun ride, then this is the book for you.
