Poison Ivy joins the Birds of Prey to sniff out the camouflage wielding villains that have planted explosives in the heads of several Gothamites. But before the Birds of Prey can perform a rescue on a speeding train, they’ll have to stop fighting and trying to capture Poison Ivy first.

This is another action-packed story that ends in a predictable but delightful cliff-hanger. These characters are strong. For example we saw a few more nuances about Starling this issue where she treated Poison Ivy as a complete villain. I was expecting her to be the one willing to bend the rules more than Black Canary. This series needed a fresh voice after having been written for so long by Chuck Dixon and Gail Simone. Here, Swierczynski focuses more on showing rather than telling readers how great the characters are, as Simone would constantly do.

Saiz, as I wrote in the past is the perfect artist for a series where the female leads are expected to be beautiful, but drawn to overemphasize their curves. He can draw women in action scenes quite well, without using any of the clichés and poses that would break a real person’s back in real life.
