Big Bear’s profile on the site tells more than I could ever say here. Needless to say, he was an action figure collector who really liked Marvel Legends action figures. He first started reviewing them in June 2006. Big Bear had stumbled upon Marvel Legends on Amazon and just became addicted with their action figures thereafter. I can vouch for the feeling he felt. Action figures can be very addictive once you start collecting them.

As a fan of Marvel Comics, especially Walt Simonson’s Thor, Big Bear had no protection when waves upon waves of Marvel Legends were released subsequently and he just had to buy them all. That’s the way it starts for most hardcore and even casual action figure collectors. At first we just want that one toy, but then it feels incomplete without the other characters.

Big Bear was a great addition to ComicBookBin because he loved the stuff he was reviewing so much. I was just starting to collect Marvel Legends myself after having been a hardcore DCDirect fan since 1999. He was more knowledgeable on Marvel Legends then than me because he had been hunting them down one by one for much longer than I did. Big Bear stayed with ComicBookBin about a year and then like many before and after him, he just drifted and stopped contributing. One thing I have to mention is that Big Bear’s work was more extensive than the average reviewer has he had to shoot pictures of his action figures himself. Any self respecting action figure reviewer knows how much that is an important part of toy reviewing.
