Batman is still looking for the mysterious girl that cause an explosion last issue. Her actions are mixed in a weird gang war erupting between the Penguin, the Black Mask and another unknown participant. Will Batman solve the crime in time to help the child who was hurt while providing him with intelligence last issue?

This story is multilayered in plots and deceptions. It’s refreshing to read such a good Batman story Daniel is becoming my favourite Batman scribe in years. He keeps the story real. Gone are the post modern over tones of Grant Morrison or Neil Gaiman. Gone are the simple stories worth feeding a machine that have no consequences. Here, Batman cares and has objectives. Things that happen around him matter to him and to readers. The story is complex enough that I have no clue where it’s going, but it’s a worthwhile ride.

That Daniel draws and writes the story is essential to its current success. He intuitively knows where to put emphasis on visual elements. The visuals could be a little more integrated with the plot, but I’ll forgive him for taking a few graphic liberties when the story is so entertaining.
