Seeing the error of the ways of his religious fundamentalist upbringing and parents, Archer decides to team up with Armstrong to retrieve all of the scattered parts of The Boon, a device that grants its wielder ultimate power. Battling their way free of The Sect's One Percenters and their underground Wall Street headquarters/temple, the pair travels to Rome and has to unravel the clues to the location of one of The Boon's hiding places. Fortunately, Armstrong was around when Michaelangelo hid it...

Packing more ancient history, a treasure hunt that rivals anything in The DaVinci Code, more hilarious, laugh out loud, commentary on the One Percent's outlandish worship of Mammon (literally), and more action and adventure than an Indiana Jones flick, Fred Van Lente delivers another gem of an issue in a long line of outstanding new comic books published by Valiant Entertainment. Like I did when I read the first issue of this series, I actually laughed out loud several times. Van Lente really has a knack for writing thinking man's action and adventure, and Archer & Armstrong #2 continues to deliver on the promise and potential embodied in the A&A concept.

Artist Clayton Henry continues to deliver some fantastic artwork. His character designs, from Armstrong's old friend, and eye patch wearing nun, to the Ninja Nuns that the two encounter at the end of the issue, are as interesting looking as they are unique. I love the hilarious facial expressions that he gives Archer and Armstrong. He also does a great job recreating some real life works of Renaissance art, as well as Rome's narrow streets.

Quite simply, Archer & Armstrong is a near flawless odd couple action comedy of epic proportions. It is a non stop thrill ride of an adventure for the thinking man type of comic book reader.
