When former con man Scott Lang leaves prison after having served his term, he finds himself poor, jobless and unable to support his daughter. He accepts to take part of a classic heist on former SHIELD scientist Hank Pym. But the heist transforms into a sabotage attempt against Darren Cross instead. Cross, who stole Pym’s technology from Doctor Pym is about to turn into the Yellow Jacket. Can Scott Lang survive taking the mantle of Ant-Man from Pym?

Ant-Man, which was a moderate success this summer, has finally been released by Disney and Marvel for home consumption as a digital release on November 17, 2015. The physical Blu-Ray and DVD discs will be available for sale on December 8, 2015. This film has been in development longer than most produced Marvel films and at one point was in dire danger of never coming out. What changed? Kevin Feige did. He changed the director and made Ant-Man conform to the rest of the Marvel universe.

As funny and entertaining as it was Ant-Man is still no Guardians of the Galaxy and neither Iron Man. Yet, it emulates both movies tremendously in terms of plot and humour. Had Ant-Man been released i 2008, it would have been a success. But in 2015, years after several Marvel movies and other super hero franchises, Ant-Man does not feel as unique as it could have been. Perhaps it followed the tested Marvel formula too closely for its own good.

Everything was predictable. The motivation of Hank Pym and the budding relationship between Scott Lang and Hope van Dyne, Pym’s daughter was simple and cardboard-like. Ant-Man lacked nuances. Yet the special effects and the action were convincing enough to make me believe that he did shrink. Now the ants looked like plastic toys and every time I looked at them, my disbelief was reinforced, instead of suspended.

Now the extras on the discs are another story. There are many. Here’s the list.
