Electronic Arts announced last week that it will be making fresh downloadable available for Mirror's Edge in late January. Available for all versions of the game, including the PC version which will be releasing in North America on January 13 th , the first Time Trail Map Pack for Mirror's Edge will be available for $10/800 Microsoft Points. Playstation 3 users will also be able to download one exclusive, free map.
This Pack will be quite different from what Mirror's Edge players have grown accustomed to with the game's cityscape, as the new environments will include no familiar settings. As EA puts it, “ No guns, no cops, and no city: this is true aesthetics, agility and flow that will challenge any runner”. The new environments will only be available in the Time Trial mode.
“ The freedom of movement and control in first person has been the most popular aspect of Mirror’s Edge so we decided to distil these down to their purest form for this map pack,” said Owen O’Brien, Senior Producer at DICE. “We deliberately chose a more abstract aesthetic that is still within our distinctive art style and then focused on flow and gameplay to create an experience and challenge very different from the main game.” In simple terms, that means the environments are really just empty spaces with objects in them, free form playgrounds.
Mirror's Edge is available for Xbox 360, Playstation 3 and will be available for PC on January 13 th in North America, January 16 th worldwide and is rated T for Teen.
