Rated “T” for “Teen”
Anise Yamamoto has a precious rose choker around her neck. Her father told her that she would suffer a terrible punishment if she would remove it, and Anise takes his dire warning seriously. After an accidental encounter, Anise loses the choker, but instead of being punished, she gains four cards representing four
Rose Knights:
Kaide Higa,
Mitsuru Tenjo,
Mitsuki Kurama, and
Seiran Asagi, each of whom she can summon by kissing a rose card.
As
Kiss of the Rose Princess, Vol. 7 (Chapters 28 to 31) opens, Anise recruits her knights to attend the
Shobi Academy's Founding Anniversary Gala. On the night of the gala, however, one of the knights steals Anise's first kiss. Before Anise can come to terms with that, she must face the trap laid by the
Gray Rose... and her father! Plus, redemption and betrayal are in play.
[This volume includes the story, “No Moon,” and bonus pages.]
THE LOWDOWN: I had not forgotten about the
Kiss of the Rose Princess manga, but I did not read Vols. 4 through 6. Still, it does seem that while much has happened since I last read the series, the story is still easy to follow
Kiss of the Rose Princess Volume 7 deals with bonds of friendship and the surprise of betrayal. I think series readers will be excited to absorb all the twists and turns; it's like a surprise every 10 pages. I don't know what to make of all the revelations, but I am more interested than ever to see how this series resolves everything.
POSSIBLE AUDIENCE: Fans of magical/mystical girls will want to try the “Shojo Beat” title,
Kiss of the Rose Princess.
Rating: B+ /10
