This issue continues a story of the "Detroit League" made up of second-stringers like Vibe and Gypsy. The focus this time is on Vixen in a tale where she leads the rest of the team out of a forest fire while their old foes, the Royal Flush Gang prepare to ambush them. There is some insight into this largely-ignored character, a look into her background, her origins and the way she thinks. There are also some good sequences showing how Aquaman of all people, copes with a forest blaze. The tale is gripping and makes both Vixen and Aquaman look very impressive and resourceful as we see how these characters can still triumph despite their limitations. There is also a shocking scene of Aquaman resorting to extreme measures to stay alive-- but this is handled with some discretion instead of wallowing in gore. At the same time, the story could be more exciting. The Royal Flush Gang just don't look like much of a threat and the League's inability to beat them really makes them look bad. Vixen's flashback about the whole 'circle of life' story in Africa is also spoiled by a panel showing African natives-- hunting a TIGER. It is hard to believe no one caught this mistake.
