The Intimates #8

It’s the first few days of holidays and the kids are taking it easy, in some instances. Punchy rekindles with his old friend, Flora who also has super powers. Empty Vee is enjoying being the invisible groupie of rock band Weirdness. As for Duke, he’s trying to live up to the National Park’s authorities requirement as their new field agent. Will he live up to the task or will he fail miserably? He may not have time to fin d out as Destra has plans of her own for everybody.
This issue focuses on Flora and Punchy mainly and is quite useful, to see what is real about his bravado and what is fake. In Punchy’s case, it’s quite important to know. I figured that Punchy was a prude virgin afraid of girls. Apparently he isn’t. The issue explores what happens with super human kids who don’t make it to the Seminary, the training ground for the next generation of super heroes. It quite entertaining.
Camuncoli’s work is superb as usual. Also he finally has more space to spread his wings and draw a different type of story. Camuncoli’s page layout is freer than usual. Contrasting his work with the few panels Jim Lee drew is fun. Camuncoli is no longer a clone of his inspiration. Sandra’s Hope also seems smoother with less cross hatching than usual. It’s a perfect mix.
