So people who follow all things comic book who know Leroy Douresseaux know me as someone who reviews comic books, which I’ve been doing for the past 10 years. Before that, I worked on various writing projects, including several comic book projects, which never got off the ground. During the past 10 years, I’ve managed to publish a few issues and also a short webcomics strip based on one comic book project.
For the better part of two years, I’ve been working on a horror comic book project, entitled Grumble. I wanted to eventually publish it as a miniseries, before collecting it in a trade paperback. Lately, I’ve decided to try writing Grumble as at least one graphic novel. Along with artist Diego Candia (www.diegocandia.com), I have been producing a few pages at a time, which I’ve decided to share with Bin readers as a work in progress.
Grumble is the story of Ava Benson, a young woman who returns to her hometown, Beechwood, for her uncle, Avner Benson’s funeral. In addition to reuniting with her dysfunctional family, Ava learns that an old enemy is terrorizing the town and murdering her family and friends.
Over the next few months, I will post the entirety of Grumble #1 or Chapter 1, entitled “Unwelcome Home,” on this page. I wrote the story. Diego penciled and inked it. Jaymes Reed lettered the pages. Grumble is Copyright © 2011 Leroy Douresseaux.
