G.I. Joe

G.I. Joe has the name of either a comic strip, a comic, or a toy since cartoonist Irving David Breger (Dave Breger) an enlisted soldier during the Second World War began drawing a comic strip in June 1942 for Yank, The Army Weekly magazine. In 1964, the Hassenfeld brothers of toy company Hasbro released the first G.I. Joe action figures. At first a male counterpart to Mattel's Barbie, G.I. Joe has continued to evolve and entertain kids and action figure collectors.
