Ok, confession time, I didn’t read comics as a kid. Oh I read the Dandy and Beano and stuff like that, but I didn’t read comics as a kid. I grew up in the South Wales countryside and most of my time was spent running, jumping and climbing trees. It wasn’t until I moved to Leeds to study Biology at university that I happened to walk into a comics store and find a copy of The Crow by James O’Barr. The Crow had long since been my favourite film and so I snapped up the book. I read it in a single sitting and my fixation for comics was solidified in one night. Since then I have become a fanatical, almost reckless comic collector.
After university came the inevitable employment and with it more money at the end of the month, which has only meant me increasing the size of my comics collection. Most of my time is spent collecting Daredevil and other Marvel titles, although I am currently in the process of completing my collection of Sandman TPBs, with a view to attacking Preacher after that.
A telephone banker through the day, and a general ne’er-do-good and closet Blondie fan at night, I currently live in Leeds with about half of the Irish nation and a plant named Joe.
