EA Brings Arcade Boxing Back With FaceBreaker

EA reintroduces the fun of pummeling

Electronic Arts announced the introduction of a new arcade boxing franchise for the EA SPORTS Label today. Under development at EA Canada, FaceBreaker is a highly stylized take on boxing, with unique boxers, each with their own personality and style. Players will get the chance to completely rearrange their opponents' faces as each blow they land makes an impression. The game also features super moves and talent tricks, like playing with one hand tied behind your back. From what we're seeing at the moment though, FaceBreaker just looks like a non-cel shaded version of Black & Bruised .

However, it is likely that there will be quite a few difference between the two games, and considering the way Peter Moore, now President of the EA SPORTS Label, speaks about it, it certainly sounds like it will be a lot of fun. “ We’re very excited to announce FaceBreaker , an all-new franchise from EA SPORTS that is fun, fresh and innovative. F aceBreaker reinvigorates one of the great genres in sports videogames. Arcade boxing takes me back to my roots in this industry, and this game signals our shift to adding more approachable fun to our product lineup. In no time at all, you’ll be picking up the controllers and knocking your opponent around the ring, smashing faces, and having a riot.”

FaceBreaker will be available for Wii, Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 later this year.
