Midway Games Inc.,
a leading interactive entertainment industry publisher and developer,
today announced that Rise & Fall: Civilizations at War, the
innovative, hero-driven real-time strategy (RTS) game that allows
gamers to control history's greatest generals, has shipped to stores
nationwide, and is available for play on personal computers.
In Rise & Fall: Civilizations at War, players can choose from four of the ancient world's mightiest empires - Persia, Greece, Egypt or Rome - and then engage in awe-inspiring feats of heroism by joining troops during climactic battles, using an action/adventure-style third-person perspective to personally impact the outcome as Julius Caesar, Alexander the Great, Cleopatra or other heroic and historic leaders.
"Rise & Fall is a graphically-stunning and easily-accessible game, offering something for strategy gamers of all levels," said Steve Allison, chief marketing officer, Midway. "Rise & Fall's single-player campaigns and various multi-player modes feature a number of new innovations in addition to traditional RTS gameplay, including intuitive yet highly-detailed naval battles and, of course, Hero Command."
Media Accolades:
"Perhaps the most eye-grabbing feature of this game, however, is the Hero Mode, where you go from the typical top-down tactical view to controlling a single unit, in either over-the-shoulder third person or directly through their eyes." - IGN.com, 3/1/2006
"Swinging a sword on the front line brought a whole new visceral satisfaction to the RTS game." - 1up.com, 5/1/2006
"Rise & Fall's traditional real-time strategy and the fast-paced hero mode is an interesting mix of gameplay." GameSpot.com, 4/17/2006
About RISE & FALL: CIVILIZATIONS AT WAR
Rise & Fall: Civilizations at War is the first real-time strategy game to place players directly in the heart of combat as a heroic general fighting side-by-side with their troops. Players can completely command one of the four mightiest empires of the ancient world as in a traditional RTS, but can also use Rise & Fall's innovative Hero Command to enter the battlefield as one of history's eight greatest heroes: Julius Caesar, Germanicus Caesar, Cleopatra, Ramses the Great, Sargon, Nebuchadnezzar, Achilles and Alexander the Great.
Rise & Fall: Civilizations at War offers an unprecedented level of detail for naval combat, which plays a large and vital role. Players will fight for control of the seas by boarding and ramming enemy naval vessels using massive, accurately-scaled biremes and triremes. Infantry, archers, ballistae, or catapults can all be placed on ships.
Rise & Fall also features numerous multiplayer game types for up to eight players, including a team-based mode where one player manages resources while the other unleashes the full power of Hero mode against the enemy team.
