DC DIRECT announces the LOONEY TUNES Golden Collection action figure series

Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Sylvester, Tweety and other members of the Looney Tunes family of characters will soon be commemorated with an all-new LOONEY TUNES Golden Collection action figure series from DC Comics’ DC Direct, one of the top toy suppliers in the specialty toy market. Paul Levitz, DC Comic’s President & Publisher, and Kelly Gilmore, Senior Vice President, Global Toys and Themed Entertainment for Warner Bros. Consumer Products announced today that DC Direct will officially unveil the sculpts and give fans their first opportunity to see the Golden Collection this week at San Diego’s ComicCon, where more than 80,000 people are expected to gather.

The LOONEY TUNES Golden Collection action figure series will consist of authentic interpretations of the iconic characters as they originally appeared in the classic LOONEY TUNES animated shorts and television episodes. When the Golden Collection is released in 2006, it will pay tribute to longtime fan’s favorite episodes including THE SCARLET PUMPERNICKEL and WHAT’S OPERA DOC? with action figures that come in episode-specific poses and costumes and packages that contain title cards, display environments and multiple accessories.

“DC Direct has helped our fans celebrate their favorite characters with magnificent sculptures for their shelves,” said Paul Levitz, President and Publisher of DC Comics. “It’s exciting to be expanding our program to capture the magic moments of the Looney Tunes.”

“The Looney Tunes have long been celebrated for their irreverence and unique brand of humor,” said Gilmore. “We are very pleased that our friends at DC Direct are capturing the rich heritage of these characters with the exclusive Looney Tunes Golden Collection action figures.”

“It is very exciting to bring together DC Comics’ DC Direct brand of toys and collectibles with our extended family of Warner Bros. classic Looney Tunes characters,” says Cheryl Rubin, Senior VP of Brand Management for DC Comics. “DC Direct toys are known for authenticity to their source material and we are thrilled to be the first ones to bring to fans authentic replications of the Looney Tunes as they appeared in their popular animated shorts and TV episodes.”
