This year, the Calgary Comic and Entertainment Expo is bringing the Father of Hellboy to the 2011 show.
Mike Mignola was born in Berkeley, California and grew up in nearby Oakland. He graduated from the California College of Arts and Crafts in 1982. He started in comics as an inker for Marvel and then started drawing Rocket Raccoon, Alpha Flight and The Hulk.
In 1993 Mike, with several other comic book creators, formed the Legend imprint at Dark Horse Comics. It was there that he created Hellboy, his best known creation. Hellboy was developed into two Hollywood movies directed by Guillermo del Toro, two animated features, various spin-offs and several novels.
“Mike Mignola is a guest that we have been trying to bring to Calgary since 2006,” said Kandrix Foong, Event Director of the Calgary Expo. “Mignola is one of the biggest comic guests we have ever had at our show and he will be producing an exclusive print to commemorate the occasion.”
The 2011 Calgary Comic and Entertainment Expo will be held June 17 - 19 in Halls A, B and C of the BMO Centre, Stampede Park, in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.
